Big offence powers team to victory
 The 2009 Southern Regional Ringette Championship Tournament was held over the weekend at Iceland Arena and featured scores of teams from southern Ontario. In Under 16 Junior B division action Friday afternoon, Mississauga goalie Taylor Hiebert-Thorne scrambles to block a shot.
April 7, 2009 11:00 AM - The Mississauga Malcolm Bunny Major team rode a potent offence to first place at the 2009 Southern Regional Ringette Championship Tournament, held over the weekend at Iceland Arena. The Mississauga squad, comprised of girls aged four to seven, defeated Burlington Livingstone 9-5 Sunday afternoon to capture the title. Hannah Malcolm and Samantha Miller both rose to the occasion in the final, scoring four goals apiece. Malcolm, who finished the tournament with 10 goals and three assists, also had a helper in the title contest. Miller finished the tourney, which was hosted by the Mississauga Ringette Association, with eight goals and two assists. En route to the finals, Mississauga beat Burlington 8-4 and Richmond Hill 7-1. About 90 teams from across southern Ontario came to Mississauga for the weekend-long tournament. Teams from Barrie, St. Catharines, Newmarket, Markham, Etobicoke, Burlington, Cambridge and Niagara Falls, among others, competed.
