The team played 8 challenging games (including 1 overtime game) to take home the Bronze medal.  After 6 games of the round-robin Mississauga was tied for first with Exeter with a 5-1 record.  Since Mississauga had beaten Exeter in the round-robin Mississauga was place 1st, Exeter 2nd, Gloucester 3rd, and Chatham 4th.  The semi-final match-ups were Mississauga vs. Chatham and Exeter vs. Gloucester.  During the round-robin Mississauga had wins against Ajax 4-2, Exeter 4-1, Ottawa 7-4, Richmond Hill 5-4 in O/T, Sudbury 7-2, and their only loss was to Mitchell 5-4.

In the semi-final the Mustangs fought hard and gave it all they had but in the end Chatham prevailed 6-3.  The other semi-final saw Exeter defeat Gloucester 5-3.  In the Bronze medal game, the Mustangs jumped out to an early lead and never gave Gloucester a chance to challenge the lead, winning 5-2.  Chatham went on to defeat Exeter 5-4 to win the Gold.

Although winning a medal, especially playing 8 games in 4 days, takes a total team effort I also wanted to highlight some of the great individual achievements that helped the team with this great accomplishment.  Jennifer Lorenz 16 pts, Emily Stregger 14 pts, and Samantha Rogers 12 pts, finished in the top 10 for scoring while Brienne Paterson was not too far behind with 10 pts including the overtime winning goal against Richmond Hill.  The team's success would not have been possible without the strong play of the defense and some excellent goaltending by Mackenzie Philpott

The MRA would especially like to congratulate all the of the Mustangs Shannon, Allison, Jennifer, Krista, Brienne, Mackenzie P, Samantha, Mackenzie S, Danielle, Emily, Megan, Katie, and the Coaching Staff on their great accomplishment.

WAY TO GO MUSTANGS!
